My Review of Vinegar Hill by A. Manette Ansay

If you have ever read any of Oprah's book picks, then skip this one, because it is so very similar to every other one.

But if you haven't, this is an interesing page-turner about marriage, fading love and a woman, with a few idiosyncrasies, who is finding herself. Ellen, our heroine, is a relatively smart and cool mom. She loves her kids and tries to do the best for them. But she is led around by her non-loving husband who manages to lose his job and make the family move back in with his abusive and beyond-boorish parents! Why does she put up with this, even if she is surrounded by a bible whacking family that won't even let her consider divorce as an option?

For me, there lies the inconstistency, because some how Ellen shows strength that the reader never would guess that she had. Even if her personality is miles above anyone else in her life. Where was that strength in the beginning of the book?

Definitely a quick woman-are-always-tortured-but-can-always-overcome Oprah read. Go Womyn!
