Blood and guts and sadness can make an Oscar nomination, but whether or not it makes a movie that anyone wants to see is debatable. Supposedly it is performances and craftsmanship that garner nods by your peers. But what makes a movie everyone wants to see? I'll admit that nominations get me to the theatre to see what all the fuss is about. I'll also admit that at 70-something, Clint Eastwood looks pretty terrific. But that being said, I did not enjoy watching this movie and I left more depressed than I was going into it! So with all my disclaimers, this movie is well done but not a movie I ever need to see again, nor one that I can recommend.
